Altaf Hussain Disappointed by Pop Idol Rejection. Looking For New Projects

Karachi — Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief, Altaf Hussain on Monday said that he was very disappointed after being rejected by Pop Idol judges in the first round and entry audition despite repeated reminders and hints of gunny sacks.

Hussain, who sang a reworked version of Slayer’s Angel of Death, went in front of the judges and passed on pink slips, which sources claim said ‘I go into the next round, or your son spends the rest of his life in a wheelchair’.

He has now announced that he wishes to form a death metal band along the lines of Slayer and call it “90 – The Band”. He also said that he had found musicians to work with, but most of them had ended up “missing” because they weren’t up to his standards and could not meet Rabta Committee standards.

Former Mayor of Karachi, Syed Mustafa Kamal has been appointed as band manager. Kamal has been slapping record label executives in a bid to get the yet to be formed “90 – The Band” signed to a major label. He has been negotiating with EMI Pakistan executives and wants to cut a deal with them and upload his videos on YouTube on their channel.

Hussain said his days of singing Bollywood numbers in talk shows were over and years of screaming and viral Youtube had made him rethink his strategy.

“90 – The Band” has so far written 11 tracks for the upcoming album, which is aptly titled ‘Goli, Bandok aur Naan’.
