Cousin Who Said “On The Way” Seen Leaving House Much Later, CCTV Shows

LAHORE, Pakistan — A man who told relatives he was “on the way” to a family gathering left his home significantly later than claimed, according to CCTV footage reviewed by people familiar with the matter.

Relatives said the man, 27, sent the message shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday. Footage from a nearby residence shows him exiting his home well after 4 p.m., suggesting he remained inside for an extended period despite indicating he had already departed.

Family members, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter, said the delay was “not unusual” given the cousin’s habit of losing track of time when alone. One relative noted that the man had the house to himself for the first time in weeks, a circumstance described as “potentially distracting” for someone his age.

The man is unmarried, and relatives say ongoing discussions about his future have created tension at home. His parents have reportedly expressed the view that he should establish financial stability before considering marriage, a position that, according to family members, contributes to his tendency to avoid social situations or arrive late.

Observers familiar with the family’s dynamics suggested the latest incident may reflect a broader pattern in which the man is delayed by “private routines” that are unlikely to be detailed publicly. They added that similar delays may continue unless underlying pressures are addressed.

The man arrived at the gathering later in the evening and offered no explanation for the discrepancy.
