ISLAMABAD — A full bench of Pakistan’s Supreme Court judges on Tuesday issued a joint clarification rejecting allegations of monetary corruption which were never levelled against them in the first place, while conceding that their sole personal failing is an excessive desire for familial affection and occasional educational travel for their grandchildren.
In a statement released through court sources, the supremo-judges said no claims of financial misconduct had been formally raised against any sitting or former justice in the court’s 77-year history, but added that they felt compelled to respond “preemptively and emotionally” to what they described as a growing atmosphere of misunderstanding.
The judges emphasized that they neither possess nor seek illicit wealth, offshore arrangements, mistresses, or undeclared assets. “Our only admitted weakness,” the statement said, “is a human one,” referring to their wish to spend time with grandchildren and to take them, at least once annually, to highend hotels in the United States, Europe, or some exotic destination.
According to the statement, such trips are intended solely to teach younger family members “the value of money, restraint, and moderation” by exposing them to luxury in a controlled environment. The judges clarified that this practice should not be misconstrued as extravagance, corruption, or a preference for foreign destinations over domestic ones.
“We’re exposing our young ones to too much luxury only because we want them to become fed up of this pampered lifestyle and turn to God’s honest work like we do”, the statement reads.
Court officials said the clarification was not prompted by any investigation, inquiry, allegation, or complaint, but was issued “for completeness and transparency”, and partially because Justice Bashir Maanji insisted after his child ranover and killed two ordinary fucking women.
