Lala Mosa — According to several people who were present at a chowk in Lala Mosa, a woman flatly refused to offer her shirt to put out the fire which was engulfing a man. The fire is said to be self-inflicted by the man but the locals believe that even if it wasn’t self-inflicted, the woman in question should’ve acted as a human first and a woman later. The onlookers who had too much time at their hand to stand and observe the entire incident said that it was because of women like her who give our culture a bad name. The onlookers further told Roznama Jawani that finally a man came to the poor bastard’s aid.
Details of the incident reveal that a local resident Bashir Khan appeared out of no where at the central chowk of the city with a 2 lt Pepsi bottle. Upon close observation and after Bashir started to pour the contents of the bottle on himself, it became clear that liquid was not the tasty and sweet cola but was gasoline. A witness at the scene told us, “First I was like ‘oh teri khair howe! Ae te Pepsi da shower le riya ae pur fir mein ghour se wikhiya te pata chala ke bottle naal patrole ae’”. He further added, “I wasn’t sure if he’ll go ahead with it so I just stood there and watched but he did and I was like ‘oh teri khair howe! aedi bund te huwi jal ke kalli’”. (* his ass is going to turn black after burning)
Further reports confirm that a woman of unknown name was also present at the incident but refused to help the poor man who was now on fire. A witness said that a gentleman came running to her to ask for her assistance in putting out the fire but she refused to help him and put Bashir’s life in further danger. Speaking with us the man who finally saved Bashir’s life said, “We were standing there and then he put petrol on himself and lit it up. I saw this lady wearing a long hem shirt which are in fashion these days and I instantly knew that it was perfect for putting out the fire.” The local hero further added that, “I asked for her shirt and she just looked at me with disbelieving looks and I thought in my head ‘Lady the you least you can do is say NO, why are you wasting all of our time?”
After the burning man was saved by the dashing man, no thanks to the unknown woman, the Police arrived at the scene and checked out the incident location and reluctantly recorded witness accounts. Speaking today with Jawani reporter, the SHO said, “…and I knew eventually a man will come to his rescue.” He added that women can’t be counted on in situations like these. “They have weird mood swings specially during those days.”, the SHO asserted.
Another witness present told us, “She was wearing a blue chiffon shirt with long hem and yellow flowers around the neck, quarter length sleeves and the same flower pattern was repeated on the sleeves. I for one totally understand why she didn’t give it up to save that man.” said tailor master Rashid who has a tailor shop right in front of the chowk.
